COVID-19 Update: May 8, 2020

Friday, May 8, 2020

Over the last couple of days, we have received hundreds, if not thousands, of questions related to the Board's Guidelines for the Safe Transition Back to Practice.  We greatly appreciate your diligence and commitment to safety.  We also know there are many challenges associated with re-opening dental offices, particularly in light of the ever-changing circumstances in these unprecedented times.

We know that you have many questions that are not answered in the Board’s guidelines. Please use professional judgement to make decisions when our guidelines do not establish a minimum requirement.  Please also know that you may choose to implement stricter office protocols.  You are encouraged to consult existing resources to make these decisions, including information published by the Iowa Department of Public Health, ADA, CDC, ADHAand OSHA

Please review the FAQ documents that the Board has created to answer many of your questions.  Below is our FAQ #2.  Due to the large volume of emails, we may not be able to provide individual responses to all questions, but we will continue to add FAQs as needed.  We encourage you to review the Board’s guidelines and the FAQs before emailing a question, as many of the questions we are receiving are answered in these documents.

It's been a difficult few weeks for all of us, but I am truly inspired by the collaboration and resilience of our profession.  Thanks to each and every one of you for all you are doing to once again begin providing high quality oral health care to Iowans.
