William McBride, D.D.S., a dentist member of the board, is from Dubuque, Iowa. He was appointed to the Board in 2015. Dr. McBride graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Virginia Commonwealth University. Dr. McBride is a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, and is a member of the American Dental Association.
Monica Foley, D.D.S., a dentist member of the Board, practices in Davenport, Iowa. She was appointed to the Board in 2016. Dr. Foley graduated from the University of Washington Dental School in Seattle, Washington. Her interests in dentistry are the areas of lifetime dental care and aesthetic dentistry. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association and the Davenport District Dental Association.
Gregory Ceraso, D.D.S., a dentist member of the Board, is from Johnston, Iowa. Dr. Ceraso was appointed to the Board in 2019. Dr. Ceraso graduated from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine. During that time Dr. Ceraso also practiced as a staff member at The Central Medical Hospital Facial Pain Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for 10 years performing extensive dental reconstruction of accident victims, cancer patients, and other facial pain patients. Prior to relocating to Iowa, Dr. Ceraso briefly held a teaching position in the general practice residency at the Western Pennsylvania Hospital. Dr. Ceraso is a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Academy of Osseointegration, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Ceraso attended and graduated from the Kois Center. In addition to cosmetic, reconstructive, periodontal and implant dentistry, Dr. Ceraso focuses his practice on adult and pediatric sleep apnea treatments.
Jonathan DeJong, D.D.S., a dentist member of the Board, is from Fort Dodge, Iowa. He was appointed to the Board in 2020.
Lisa Holst, D.D.S., a dentist member of the Board, practices in Knoxville, Iowa. She was appointed to the Board in 2019. Dr. Holst graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry and then completed a General Practice Residency at Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. She is privileged to provide general dental services to families in her hometown, where she has owned and operated her dental practice for 25 years. Dr. Holst has acted as a preceptor for dental assisting programs; and, prior to her appointment to the Board, she served on the Board’s Expanded Function Task Force. Dr. Holst is a member of the American Dental Association, American Association of Women Dentists, Academy of General Dentistry, Des Moines District Dental Society, and Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society.
Nancy Slach, R.D.H., a dental hygiene member of the Board, is from Iowa City, Iowa. She was appointed to the Board in 2012. Ms. Slach is an educator and a tobacco cessation specialist who practices dental hygiene in periodontics.
Jillian Travis, R.D.H., a dental hygiene member of the Board, is from Sidney, Iowa. She was appointed to the Board in 2020.
Lori Elmitt, a public member of the Board, was appointed in 2012. Lori is an office manager for a dental office and is chair of the Continuing Education Committee. She lives in Johnston.
Bruce Thorsen, a public member of the Board, was appointed in 2017. He is a native of Newton and a graduate of Drake University. He was a health care executive in Iowa and North Carolina for 45 years. During his career, he helped establish two successful hospital-based dental programs focusing on vulnerable children, adults and special needs individuals at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids and at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC. The “Toothbus” mobile dental program based at Mission, became a national model in bringing dental care to rural children who had never seen a dentist. He is the recipient of the State of North Carolina’s high civilian award, “The Order of the Long Leaf Pine”, presented to him in 2014 for his work in creating Mission Children’s Hospital. Bruce currently resides in Clive.
